Description:

I’m definitely not two years late to the theme with my first workshop character, SSL r-00.

The tricky delivery bot returns, this time embracing the digital theme to the lowest resolution! Brought into the format of Super Smash Land, r-00 may be half the size, but he still is full of tricks. His limited kit still allows for slippery movement and comboing of opponents.

His main gimmick, the momentum reversal of Nspec, makes a return and works the same as before, with the caveat that it takes up the Nair input. You can otherwise input a neutral attack during the active frames of most attacks to immediately reverse your momentum, allowing you to recover from attacks that carry you offstage. In fact, it is his best recovery move, using Nair after getting hit, or using it when fast falling, will boost you back to stage, where a Dair input might help you make the last stretch.

His star does not return as a moveable article, but rather accompanies him as he moves and attacks. It can be thrown forward in an arc for a good spacing or setup tool.

For all its wacky interactions, the wall is not included in his kit; what instead takes up the Dtilt space is his versatile Dstrong. Holding down and attack on the ground boosts him backwards until he reaches max speed, whereupon contacting an opponent or releasing the input has him hit anything in front of him. This move is good for crossing stage quickly and when input shortly after turning around, allows a good burst of speed. It can even be held offstage for cheeky kills, just remember to reverse before you hit the blast zone.

A huge thanks to Archytas for making the original r-00 and greenlighting this project. It’s my first real foray into rivals modding and was very educational and fun to figure out. A big thanks to Sirc as well for helping me figure out coding certain moves with my limited knowledge. And finally thanks to PJ, Rioku, and the other devs who set up the SSL template, which made it a lot easier for me to figure out and complete a character in this format.
