As war approached Pogoren, my team and I was sent in as special war correspondents. We were to document the atrocities of war… it never occurred to me that those atrocities would find us. Our team was ambushed outside a church, a rocket struck our Humvee killing half our escort and embedding my back and leg with shrapnel. Those who survived the blast were gunned down by rebels. They found me as they looted our gear, I’ll never forget their sneering faces as they turned away, leaving me to bleed out on the street. I don’t know why I didn’t die, but now I’m just one more person trapped in this god-forsaken city…
