Description:
Foreword

Recommended Very Hard campaign difficulty and Medium battle difficulty, and to only play Makedonia, Epeiros, Koinon Hellenon, or Ptolemaioi for this release.

Overview

EB1 Revamped are a collection of overhauls and scripting to improve the gameplay experience. Historical accuracy is not to be sacrificed in favor of gameplay fun, and vice versa, but if it’s unavoidable, then gameplay is 1a and historical accuracy is 1b.

The most notable features are:

  • Numerous historically accurate "quests" for each faction that can be completed at the player’s leisure, though their hefty "rewards" are a good incentive anyways. Admittedly, some of these features are just complex building trees, but quite a few have unique scripting to give the player meaningful choices and immersive experiences
  • Plenty of new units and building trees to deepen gameplay
  • Campaign overhaul to make wars challenging by making battlefield morale, troop recruitment, economic growth and specialization, and logistics important factors to consider
  • Improved CAI and BAI behavior: buffs to make them challenging, and restrictions to curb some unsavory vanilla behaviors like elephant spamming and backstabbing
  • War exhaustion system to make AI manpower seemingly endless UNTIL the player inflicts a few defeats on them or blockades them. Then, the AI will be crippled until the player takes a few settlements or enough time has passed. This cycle will replaced the endless AI stacks
  • City management is a matter of choosing which buffs to prioritize, and figuring out how to mitigate the maluses. Rarely is there a building that is the best option at all times, you must carefully choose what to build depending on circumstances
  • Various QOL improvements like a 100-turn "Busy Work" building to prevent bad builder trait triggers, removal of corruption from having too much money (though other factors under the player’s control can still turn your characters into degenerates), and making each faction more developed and ready for wars at the start

However, due to the work involved, revamped factions will be released in batches. Here is the release history and the factions included with them:

  • Release 1 (current): Makedonia, KH, Epeiros, Ptolemies
  • Release 2 (next): Seleucids, Pontus, Romans

Please DO NOT play any factions outside of ones that have been revamped, or else you’ll be annoyed once it gets revamped in the future and you’ll have to start another campaign

EB1 Revamped could not have been made without the prior work of the EB community

  • Everyone who contributed to EB1 at any point for creating and polishing a classic mod
  • rt2021 for porting EB1 to Remastered
  • Everyone in the EB1 multiplayer scene for improving battle balance
  • Fencer for porting the multiplayer balancing to Remastered
  • Teobec and b0GIA and others for their recent EB1.33 release’s units
  • Everyone who contributed to EB2 at any point for expanding upon EB1 with new historical richness
