Ruststalkers
The Ruststalkers are a minor faction that resides in the Purple Sands- a biome I thought looked really cool the first time I saw it but had absolutely nothing interesting in it. So this mod was born from that yearning.
The Ruststalkers are an expedition of Tech Hunters who ended up stranded in the crossroads of cannibal, shrieking bandit, berserker, and ancient machine territory. They had to improvise and scavenge to get by, hence their attire. They’ve been isolated from most of the world for a few years, but they’ve grown strong and knowledgable in their struggle. You shouldn’t underestimate them.
FEATURES:
-The town of Oxide, a small village that serves as the Ruststalker’s fortress. They buy and sell high tech items for a premium and are a good sanctuary from anything in the Purple Sands. They also occupied the sole ancient warehouse in the area, turning it into a secondary outpost.
-Ruststalker armour and weapons. Three chestpiece variants, a masked turban, and armoured boots. These have similar stats to samurai armour and medium plate items respectively. Five weapons made from iron spider scraps. They’re heavy and tend to be more blunt than their counterparts.
-Worldstates. You can help them restore their travel route to World’s End, or destroy them and turn their town into an empty husk.
REQUIREMENTS:
I tried to keep it as lightweight as possible, but to really give them the vibe I wanted, there’s several (vanilla friendly) mods that you’ll also need. These will be listed on the side.
COMPATIBILITY:
Should be compatible with pretty much everything that doesn’t place a town directly on top of Oxide. I altered as little of the basegame content as possible to ensure it’d be easy to slot in. You should probably import if you install this mid-playthrough though.
Also, it’ll work in a mostly vanilla game, but I designed and balanced it around having difficulty-increasing mods and stuff that alters spawn rates in desolate biomes and world states like the cannibal ones (I’m personally using Kaizo). This part is purely an immersion thing, it won’t affect the stability of the mod or anything like that.
_
You can use this mod or parts of it in your own mods, just be sure to credit me. If you have any suggestions/requests/critique, lemme know. I might add more fluff onto this in the future, but I think it’s mostly done.
