Cobalt Crafting
Cobaltite is already in the game, but you can’t really do much with it except make stone items. This simple mod allows you to make cobalt bars from cobaltite, for use in furniture, tools and crafts, similar to titanium and gold. The main purpose of this mod is to make cobaltite useful, and to give players a way to make valuable bright blue items out of metal to decorate their fortress. The stone (ore) works for construction and furniture as well.
The density is lighter than silver so it’s easier to work with, and the material value is the same as silver (10). Should be compatible with any mods that don’t add their own cobalt. Remember: "Cobaltite" functions as a stone and an ore, similar to Hematite. "Cobalt" is the metal made from smelting cobaltite.
I know what you’re thinking… "Why not allow us to make weapons and armor with cobalt too"? Originally, I wanted to do that as an alternative to iron for fortresses who don’t have access to a sedimentary layer. However, the graphical update makes adding weapons and armor very difficult to figure out because of the layer system, used to dynamically update the appearance of dwarves carrying around their equipment. I would like to add cobalt equipment once I can figure out how to make it appear when it’s equipped.
