Description:
A Platoon of US Army soldiers part of V Corps desperately assaults a town in West Germany during the early days of the Warsaw Pact invasion

Fall of Europe ’89 is a series of scenarios heavily inspired by Tom Clancy’s Red Storm Rising set in the event of a Cold War Gone Hot, of which Warsaw Pact forces invade Europe in an attempt to get the desperately needed oil. These scenarios will be primarily set in Germany and Scandinavia.

In 1988, militants from Soviet Azerbaijan destroyed a Soviet oil refinery in Nizhnevartovsk, threatening to cripple the USSR’s economy due to oil shortages. In order to restore the country’s oil production, the Soviet Politburo decides to take the Persian Gulf and it’s rich oil productions. However, due to it’s close ties with NATO, they decide to first cripple NATO’s forces.

The USSR first stages a Maskirovka (or False Flag), by sending a KGB sleeper agent to bomb the Kremlin, which leaves many dead, including children. This leaves its people calling for retaliation. The Soviets plan to invade West Germany with the help of other Warsaw Pact nations, such as East Germany (GDR), Poland, and Czechoslovakia. They also plan on seizing the Baltic states, and Iceland to secure the strategically important G-I-UK gap.

On the first of June 1989, Warsaw Pact forces blitz through the meadows and fields of Fulda, Germany, breaking the Iron Curtain. The sudden invasion was unexpected by NATO commanders, even though multiple Spetsnaz units were caught trying to sabotage Early Warning Systems in Germany the nights before. Bundeswehr as well as US forces race to establish a defensive line to halt the Soviet advance before NATO REFORGER (REturn of FORces to GERmany) reinforcements arrive.

FOR MOST SCENARIOS, EXPECT:
-Rich lore and stories, greatly inspired by Tom Clancy’s novel.
-Voicelines, mostly recycled from the OFP campaign or other sources.
-Fun, short missions that are designed in a way to give a sense of a large scale battle going on around you.
-Straight-to-the-point tasks and objectives that don’t give you extra chores. Just shoot at enemies and watch cool stuff and things blowing up around you.
-A lot of unitcapture uses for an additional sense of immersion and less jankiness from the AI.
-Some scenarios have additional optional tasks that may or may not help you later.

MISSION BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVE:
On the 2nd of June, the German village of Handstedt was taken by a Soviet Mechanized Platoon, despite combined efforts from the Landwehr and 1st Battalion.
Now, we assign you the task of retaking it, with the strength of a platoon and armor support.
TASKS:
-Assault and Secure the town of Handstedt
-Optionally destroy enemy GRAD mobile artillery vehicles
-Defend the village from enemy QRF, utilizing armor support from friendly reinforcements.
MISSION DIFFICULTY AND LENGTH:
-Pretty easy and straightforward, with additional support if you destroy those GRAD vehicles.
-Mission takes around 20-30 minutes.
-Linear, with the same objectives and positions in every playthrough
-good fun.
