Description:

Adds a new civilization that comes from the frigid poles.

INTRODUCTION

Fur covered humanoids coming from the coldest regions of the world, the Isdin are a hardy people used to struggle and scarcity. Their culture reflects this. Their laws are harsh and punishing, and they see virtue in sacrificing oneself for the group. They are also ruthless to anyone they consider an enemy, and wont hesitate to resort to cannibalism if they must.

Knowing there are warmer lands with more resources away from home, they seek to expand into them and will settle in temperate areas of the map. However they still prefer to trade and siege in the winter, when they know the temperetures wont overheat their cold-adapted bodies.

BLESSING OF THE FROST

The Isdin shouldn’t be taken for mere barbarians from the tundra. They are able to thrive in these areas due to special blessings many of them attribute to the spirits of nature they worship. Normal Isdin are more resitant to the cold than other races, but there are also those among them that are empowered by it. Lacking the fur that defines their kin and sporting a horn, these highborn have long lifespans and the power to freeze their enemies to death. Their society places them at the top, believing them to have been born to rule.

NEW METAL

They also know a secret method to combine iron with ice to create weapons as hard as steel. How these weapons manage to end up in the hands of cavern dwellers is a mistery that may never be solved.

ANIMALS

They can tame a selection of animals from cold climates, including polar bears and penguins.

CROPS

They have found a way to domesticate a strange breed of flower that only grows in the cold, and turned it into a source of food. Perhaps this is the secret to how they managed to become a true civilization despite the lack of resources in their home habitat.

ITEMS

I added dragon dolls and toy swords to them because why not.

PLAYABLE

I don’t like the idea of making these guys playable, they’re meant to be a potential fortress mode ally or enemy, or add flavour to adventure mode. But they have all the necesarry positions and reactions, and someone may want to have the choice without having tomod the mod, so I decided to leave them like that in case anyone wants a go at them. I’m not responsible if it turns out I missed something when making them.

DISCLAIMER

Their frost attack can, on rare occasion, cause some bugs and even crashes when the vapor it uses to work sticks to someone. A dip in some water should solve any issues. This has only happended once in many hours of play so it’s not something I’d worry about.

TRIVIA

  • Their name is the word for ice in their own language, and also a sunscreen brand irl.
  • Some of their faces are meant to somewhat resemble Maximillian Strauss from VTM: Bloodlines. Go now, reinstall it.
