The Aetos Dios was a giant, golden eagle which served as Zeus’s personal messenger and animal companion. With this symbolic meaning, the mythological eagle served as the seal of the Ptolemaic dynasty founded by Ptolemy I, a general under Alexander the Great and one of the three Diadochi who succeeded his empire.
