Description:
Boom’s Egypt Rework

Egypt is a nice beginner civ in basegame, with a decent but dull production bonus to districts and wonders, along with an improvement that allows some appeal shenanigans. However, their bonuses are rather dull and uninspired, and while they are supposedly a floodplain civ, they mainly benefit from rivers, and the poor production provided by floodplains cancels out any benefit they may gain from their ability.

Thus, in this mod, I aim to make Egypt the early game floodplain-focused production and gold powerhouse they deserve to be, while also providing them with a new unique governor in order to reinforce their wonder-building identity.

Bride of the Mediterranean has received a small buff to make it more powerful in the early game, but I left it mostly untouched since I believe Cleopatra is sort of separate from the rest of Egypt in her abilities and in history. The real change comes in Iteru, the Egypt civilization’s ability, which has been totally reworked in order to focus more on floodplains and production/gold generation. Finally, the Sphinx has been buffed in order to reward Egypt more heavily for building production-intensive wonders.

Leader Ability: Bride of the Mediterranean
  • Now provides +2 production on international trade routes in addition to the gold

Civilization Ability: Iteru
  • Renamed to Riches of the Nile
  • District/wonder production next to rivers removed
  • City Centers gain +1 Production and +1 Gold for each Floodplain adjacent to it
  • Floodplains grant +1 Appeal rather than the usual -1
  • Gain access to Ramses II, a unique governor focused upon production and city building abilities

Unique Governor: Ramses II
  • 1 – Architect of Temples: +1 Great Prophet and Engineer point for each wonder in the city
  • 1 – Monument Builder: Double Production and Gold adjacencies from this City Center
  • 2 – Sed Festival: +1 Amenity and Housing for each wonder in the city
  • 2 – Sese: +3 Production for each district in the city
  • 3 – King of Kings: International Trade Routes starting in the city gain +2 Faith and +1 Culture for each wonder in the city

Unique Infrastructure: Sphinx
  • Sphinx is now unlocked at Code of Laws
  • Now provides +1 Culture and +1 Faith for each adjacent wonder instead of +2 Faith if there is an adjacent wonder

Compatibility

This mod should be compatible with all other mods. If you discover an incompatibility please tell me and I will attempt to fix it.

Notes and Acknowledgements

Some of the material included in this mod is taken from the CIVITAS Djoser Egypt mod, which includes a similar unique governor for Egypt, I do not know SQL, so I did take a bit of script from that mod. Please go check that mod out and if any of that mod’s creators want me to remove the code I used from their mod please message me and I will remove it.
The art for Ramses II is taken from Civilization V’s Ramses II thumbnail. Try Civ 5 if y’all have a bit of spare cash on hand :p.

Art for this mod may be slightly bugged, I have noticed issues with thumbnails and images disappearing when I restart or reload a save, although restarting the game always fixes it for me. I don’t know why this is occurring, if it proves to be a common issue or if anyone has a fix for it please leave a comment below.

I heavily recommend my Belief Rework and Pantheon Rebalance mods, as well as my Wonder Rebalancing mod that I will be releasing soon. Egypt in particular will benefit from these mods quite a bit.

Big thanks to Fuzzle07 and Sailor Cat for helping me with the art for this mod, modding in art is notoriously tedious and needlessly difficult and these two helped me a lot. Go check out their mods!
Please feel free to leave feedback about compatibility, balance, bugs or anything else you would like to say to me :). Please enjoy my Egypt rework!
