Description:

Need a foundation on Level 2 or 3, but don’t want it on the ground floor? Sounds like you need a Skywalk!

When you subscribe to this mod, you should also have to subscribe and download the "Mod Support via Harmony Library" mod. Then, you have to turn both mods on in Menu > Options > Mod Settings. Turn on the Skywalk mod second.

This mod creates a new tool in the Construction > All tab called "Skywalk". This tool allows you to build foundation on Level 2 or 3, above bare ground. There are certain objects that you cannot build on top of, like runways, taxiways, gates, and anything related to fuel!

A single Skywalk build is restricted to 20×20 cells, though you can build multiple times to get larger Skywalks.

When you begin a Skywalk build, a secondary construction project builds a pillar in each corner on the levels underneath it (unless the cell underneath the corner is already a wall). This does get a bit more complicated in that a pillar is not needed IF:
a. The build is connected to foundation at the same level, and
b. The corner is within 10 cells (combined horizontal and vertical, not diagonal) from a connected foundation segment that has a wall underneath it.
This allows you to build short extensions from a Skywalk without any additional pillars being put in. Pillars are 1×1 cells, though you can build larger pillars under each corner as desired. Pillars cannot be deleted unless the Skywalk is deleted first (per normal behavior).

In the course of making the mod, I had to modify the code that affects how some objects work. Here’s a list of affected objects. If you see any issues with them, please let me know.

  • Roads (including roads on aircraft gates)
  • Taxiways
  • Runways
  • Aircraft Gates
  • ATC Tower
  • Light Rail Train and Platform
  • Concrete on floors 2 and 3, though moving it could affect anything on the floor
  • Above ground fuel tanks, fuel depot, and fueling station
  • And most complicated of all – Vehicles and People.

Known Issues:

  • Ramp vehicles may partially disappear when on roads at the transition to a gate.
  • Baggage depot underground baggage ramps do not appear properly.
