This mod scales down the Construction Site in both cost and benefit to provide more flexibility. It’s intended to offer a smoother experience, particularly for small economies. Lower-level production methods yield lesser benefits but also incur lower costs, gradually returning to vanilla standards as they reach higher levels.
I noticed that in Victoria 3, the game’s numbers are typically designed for larger countries. For small economies, even a minor fluctuation can have a dramatic impact. As someone who enjoys playing as smaller countries, I found that the Construction Site could negatively impact these economies. Currently, one Construction Site uses 5,000 employees, 2 point infrastructure, a large amount of wood, fabric, and salaries, but provides a mere 2 construction points. This is negligible compared to the free 10 points given initially. There’s little incentive to build this building as it can devastate employment, market prices, and government finances. Without it, however, countries cannot access the investment pool, a crucial income source in the game. Consequently, the country’s economy struggles to kickstart while significant funds are wasted. This mod aims to make the Construction Site more adaptable for small economies, helping them navigate the early stages of the game, while also considering the reduced impact on influential powers and the late game when rebalancing.
- Lv1 Wooden Production Method: Requirements for employees, inputs, and outputs have been scaled down to 40% of the vanilla numbers. This level also provides 3 infrastructure points, countering the 2-point cost in vanilla. This change addresses the imbalance and lack of realism in inland regions, which have no way of increasing infrastructure before building railways in the game. It also offers 2.5 times of local building speed (1/40%) as compensation for powerful economies.
- Lv2 Iron Method: Reduced to 60% of vanilla, with an additional infrastructure point.
- Lv3 Steel Method: Scaled to 80% of vanilla, with an additional infrastructure point.
- Lv4 Electronic Method: Remains the same as vanilla, with no additional infrastructure points provided.
This mod only edits the construction table in the production_method directory. It should be compatible with most major mods and should be placed above any other mods that edit the same table if you wish to use this mod’s changes.
