Welcome to Panthera.

Open Arma is a project to make optimized, mod-friendly sandboxes for Arma’s terrains. Explore Island Panthera at your own leisure, test some of your mods, take some guns to the range, make your own missions in Zeus, and more. You can play alone or with up to 48 people. A list of noteworthy features is below.

Features

– A fully open sandbox, built with optimization, compatibility, and player-made content in mind
– Support for up to 48 players across the three sides (BLUFOR, OPFOR, and Independent)
– All players have access to Zeus. Make your own missions on the fly without needing to use the Eden editor
– All players have access to virtual (infinite) supports. Call artillery, request helicopter transport, and more
– The USS Freedom aircraft carrier is off the western shore for carrier-based ops (BLUFOR can spawn there)
– An outdoors firing range with targets of various distances
– A killhouse next to the firing range that can fill itself with targets or be filled in through Zeus (use the panel next to the two-story building to fill it)

Recommended/complementary mods

KA Virtual Arsenal
While not a "requirement", you will absolutely want a Virtual Arsenal mod. KA Virtual Arsenal is the best one I’ve used to date and is conveniently available on the Workshop, though you can use whichever one you prefer. Just know that you won’t be able to change your default equipment without one.

CH View Distance
Allows you to change your draw distance on the fly. Use this if you don’t like the map’s default draw distance. Also, it’s just plain handy to have around.

VSM Uniforms
Really nice, high-quality multicam uniforms that work really well with Panthera’s colors. Also check out VSM Vests and Helmets for complementary gear.

Known Issues

– There is an initial "lag" when loading the map for the first time. You may get stuck on the respawn screen or "spawn" at the airport with a poor framerate. This usually clears up in a few seconds and is to be expected. This "lag" shouldn’t persist beyond that point for the duration of your play session. This exists because the mission file is quite large and there is a large amount of playable units, and the game is loading all of that up-front. It should not persist for long.
– If you feel the draw distance is too low, use CH View Distance to change it on the fly.
