Description:

Tug of War Battle by PixzL. & RedDotBlackSquare

Grab a drink and some popcorn whilst you engage in a viewer’s experience of an entirely scripted AI battle of the Rhineland near an expertly detailed Hochwald’s ridge map made by RedDotBlackSquare. Watch as the two sides duke it out to take command of all flag points on the map and win it out for the Commonwealth or the Reich. You can either utilise the free-cam to gain full control of the camera to view whatever you please or enter the ‘cinematic’ mode whilst you sit back and let the battle happen.

DISCLAIMER: THIS IS A FULL FLEDGED AI BATTLE AND IS A VIEWER’S EXPERIENCE ONLY

Each side has 10 waves of infantry (40 units per wave) every 4 minutes. Capturing flags grants infantry whilst capturing two flags on each respective side grants armoured vehicles which progress to mechanized transports (half-tracks). The central zone (where a majority of the fighting takes place) grants airborne troops and capturing enemy territory grants elite units of special forces. Obtaining 4 flags grants the light armour to roll in and progressively move onto medium and heavier armour when they are destroyed/inoperable.

Operation Blockbuster was the completion of the larger Operation Veritable by the First Canadian Army, reinforced by the XXX Corps from the British Second Army from late February to early March, 1945. Veritable had been slower and more costly than expected and the Canadian commander, General Harry Crerar, had decided on a fresh start for the operation. Three British and Canadian divisions advanced north-westwards, capturing unprepared German positions in the Hochwald forested ridge, before advancing on Xanten. They linked up with the Ninth US Army at Berendonk, near Geldern on 3 March.

Questions, Answers & Notes

Why can’t I play this/select/comtrol units? – This is not strictly a mission. I don’t really know what to categorise this under and if there was a "scenario" option, I would have picked it on the workshop uploader. The purpose of this content is to show what scripting can achieve and to push the limits of the AI whilst the viewer can watch the show.
"Located/Name of Mod?" – >Singleplayer/Select Mission/PixzL’s Tug of War/Operation Blockbuster
or
>Editor/single/pixzls_tug_of_war/operation_blockbuster/cinematic.mi
Mod? – I do not like calling these custom missions "mods" but they are viewable on the games’ main executable file & the editor.
Bugs? – can be reported under the "Bugs & Fixes" discussion section.
Crash reports? – can be reported under the "Crash Reports" discussion section (Follow the format).
Notice: 1, if any bug/complaint/report hasn’t been written in the designated discussions, it will be ignored.
Notice: 2, this is not meant to be an 100% historically accurate battle – rather, an AI scenario which can be replayed.
Notice: 3, the flag for Germany does have a swastika texture for authenticity.
