Have you ever tried to kidnap a hive queen in Hives Expanded to test your might against their assaults, only to mess up the sequence and end up never being attacked again? Have you waited for weeks of in-game time with the queen locked up, wondering why the hive seems to have lost all interest in their beloved leader?

If one of the Hives Expanded assaults are considered by the game to have "ended" without a distinct loss, you are essentially locked out of progressing further in the chain of events unless you execute the queen and trigger their all-out assault. That seemed very bad, so I edited the assaults to trigger by new parameters.

With this edit, assaults can still trigger in sequence as they did before, but there are additional failsafes to prevent them from getting stuck:

  • If the assault simply "ends," it is allowed to repeat itself after a cooldown of 10 days if the war leader escaped (20 days for queen death assaults).
  • Every assault in the sequence now has a territorial trigger that is enabled if the previous war leader has been defeated (imprisoned or killed).
  • The territorial triggers are nearly guaranteed to activate as soon as the game rolls them.

I have also changed the in-game display name of the assaults to follow a consistent format, but that’s only a stylistic choice.
