Dark Ages AD533 – The Age of Justinian 1.0
This mod transports the Roman Expedition units from TLR into a Grand Campaign scenario beginning in AD533 – with the initiation of the reconquest of Africa back into the Roman Empire.
The year is AD533 and the Emperor Justinian has initiated his policy of ‘Renovatio Imperii’ – the restoration of the Empire. Over fifty years have passed since the fall of the Western Empire to the barbarians. Eastern Rome survived, being outside the trajectory of most of the migrating barbarian hordes.
The Eastern Roman Empire possesses great wealth, a strong military and exceptional leadership from generals such as Belisarius who won the war in the East and put down the Nika riots in Constantinople. Now the Emperor Justinian has sent Belisarius to Africa in his plan to reclaim the province from the Vandal Kingdom and restore imperial authority over the territory. After Africa has been annexed back into the Empire, Justinian wishes to conquer Italy from the Ostrogoths.
Can Justinian reconquer the lost former territories of the Empire during his lifetime, or will he fail in his ambitions to restore of the Empire to its former glory ?…time will reveal all.
