Description:
What does this mod do?

Over the years I began noticing more and more inconsistencies when it comes to dialogue that is simply absent or missing from the game that should be present, rather it’s the L4D1 cast not being able to call out anything added into Left 4 Dead 2, such as Melee Weapons, Defibrillators, Ammo Upgrade’s, etc. Some of the L4D1, and 2 cast having lines of dialogue that others are missing, like how Francis, and Bill do not have Car Alarm alerts but Zoey, and Louis do, or how the L4D2 cast all have unique picking up reactions to the Fire Axe, and Frying Pan, where as for some reason Coach does not.

As well as this creating Gameplay immersion issues due to the L4D1 survivors being able to warn about the SI, or CI zombies. Or call out certain items and instead must be conveyed via Chat or Voice. The goal of this project is to create unique dialogue for these instances as well as completely overhaul what’s available to allow for more dialogue for better player immersion, guidance, and adding more life into the game.

With the revolution of RVC AI making it possible to create those lines formally absent from the game. The goal was to try and add in AI Generated dialogue for the cast. The AI lines are generated utilizing a combination of my own voice, as well as Elevenlabs and then putting the generated lines through RVC Applio V2 in order to make them sound more accurate.
I began noticing that there were quite a few weapons and items that just had generic lines, moreso then items and weapons that didn’t.

This mod helps correct that. This pack features the following below.

Added dialogue so far
  • Gives the L4D2 cast added callouts and item pickup lines for the TLS weapons, the Shovel, and Pitchfork, as well as the Knife, the Magnum, and the Baseball Bat.
  • Some of the L4D2 Cast have unique lines for picking up the Frying Pan, and FireAxe, but others such as Coach. Do not. I gave them lines fitting per character for the FireAxe, Frying Pan, and Magnum.
  • An oddity I observed is the L4D2 cast doesn’t really have lines for calling out the Sniper Rifles. They are there but they are too vague. I added in unique callouts for the Sniper Rifles for the L4D2 cast.
  • Gives the L4D1 cast added callouts and item pickup lines for the TLS weapons, every Melee Weapon, the Defibrillator, Adrenaline Shot, Upgraded Ammo Packs, LaserSights, Bile Jar, the Magnum, and Chainsaw.
  • Gives the L4D1 cast added lines for spotting the M60, and Grenade Launcher.
  • Gives the L4D1 cast added lines for deploying the Explosive, and Incendiary Ammo packs.
  • Gives the L4D1 cast added lines for reviving and being revived with the Defibrillator.
  • Gives the L4D1 cast lines for throwing the bile jar.
  • Gives the L4D1 cast added lines for spotting some of the Uncommon Infected. The Mudmen, Hazmat, and Armored Zombies are included.
  • Gives the L4D1 cast added lines for warning of the L4D2 Special Infected.
  • Gives the L4D1 cast added lines for warning of Incoming Spitter Acid.
  • Gives the L4D1 cast added lines for Friendly Fire while Tank is present like the L4D2 cast.
  • Gives lines all survivors alerting Car Alarms.
  • Gives lines for Francis & Bill making comments when a survivor is pounced by Jockey.
  • Gives the L4D1 cast added lines for the Tank Battlecries. The L4D2 cast were given more urgent dialogue when reloading while fighting the tank. I added that feature to the L4D1 cast as well.
  • Gives unique Special Infected kill dialogue for Zoey killing and looking at the Spitter, and Francis with killing and spotting the Jockey. For the L4D2 cast Ellis would sometimes comment on Spitter’s that he would kill. It was very rare but when it would happen it was neat and I wondered why more survivors didn’t have dialogue like this making comments about the other SI.

Some general notes regarding this mod
  • This mod is currently in Beta. This is my first effort, and an ambitious one at that, where I tried making a whole unique script for this purpose. I owe a lot of thanks specifically to Chimi and Vox for helping me understand concepts and talker scripts in order to make this possible. But there are expectations that some things are rough. If you notice any oddities, glitches, or conflicts with other mods, please let me know.
  • There is no Lip Sync, or Subtitle options available for this specific mod. I don’t intend on adding those either. If someone would like to add those to this mod, you are welcome to do so. But do note if you are going to be adding any subtitles this mod is subject to change as it is in Beta so new lines will be added periodically.
  • This mod only works either Offline, or hosted Locally/Dedicated servers, and other players will need to be subscribed to the mod for it to work.
  • This is utilizing Chimi’s V2 script. It means that the mod is purely made utilizing VScripts, and doesn’t require Scenes, or modified talker script’s. Due to this you shouldn’t experience any issues using those together with this mod. That said because this method is purely using VScripts and Functions to allow the voice lines to play and act like scenes, there’s going to be weird quirks such as lines being overlapped or failing to fire. If you notice any of this let me know.
  • Because of the way I had to write the script to get the lines to have priority over the generic responses. It IS possible that if you are hosting this mod. For the player’s that don’t also have it enabled, some lines may be mute for them. I cannot confirm if this is the case as of now but it’s just a pre-caution.
  • For the Warn SI lines for the L4D1 cast I created all of the lines for Zoey, Louis, and Bill, however the ones for Francis are ported from Fox ΘΔ’s RVC SI Callouts Mod, full credit goes to them.

NOTE:

Because this mod is made using VScript’s and Function’s. The default rulescript that allows audio to play with norepeat enabled doesn’t work. Therefore in order to make those lines work properly you’ll need to subscribe to Chimi’s Rulescript Fix in order to make those functions. That mod is attached as a required item.

Don’t worry not having it enabled will prevent the mod from working but the lines that require "norepeat" meaning lines that are meant to be played once, will not function without it. That includes hosting a server with the mod installed, and will affect you, and other players.

I hope you enjoy the mod!

DISCLAIMER!

This mod is made utilizing AI. It is not in anyway affiliated with any of the actual actors (That should be obvious given that ya know. Bill’s actor is no longer here with us.) and thus this mod does not have consent from the actual actors in order to make the lines used in this mod. If at any point if it is deemed inappropriate and any of the actors request this to be taken down. I will happily do so.

This mod isn’t meant to imitate the person who plays the character, nor is it meant to replace the actors, it’s simply to add more depth to the characters that Valve either overlooked or never got the actors to record themselves. It’s a representation of the characters, and not the actual actors. Please do not use this mod with the intent to state it’s official lines from the actors, or that the actors involved had anything to do with this mod. Please advise.
