Description:
Welcome to the Northeast Corridor!

The year is 1850 and the northeastern seaboard is flourishing in the growth of people and industry. Communities are beginning to be connected by rail forming the early primitive structure of the world-famous Northeast Corridor (NEC) rail network. Railways are beginning to link towns allowing for easy transport of goods and people between major cities like Boston, New York, Philadelphia, Baltimore, and Washington DC. The NEC began to become electrified in 1905 eventually completing the full length between Washington to Boston.

Today’s NEC sports the largest rail passenger throughput of the entire United States with over 800,000 people transported regionally a day with numerous other shortlines, local/metropolitan lines, and freight service thriving along its path.

Gameplay

Take the reigns at the very beginning of its formations in the year 1850. Connect small and major cities with a grow the NEC’s variety of services like high-speed rail, regional rail services, and freight that they are today. Plan rail routes early with efficiency and expansion ability to serve the corridor as its demand grows exponentially over time. Mixing all types of traffic and connecting cities efficiently is sure to challenge any skill level of player.

This map also features realistically placed industries using real-world locations, however, unlike my previous maps my forums were more on passenger network playability of this map. The map also features a number of neighboring cities included in the map to allow for branch line connection gameplay.

Note From the Author

This map is a reboot of my earlier rendition of the NEC which was a much smaller scale. This map sports a very long 1:6 ratio Huge sized map. It takes a highspeed train roughly 25 minutes to go end to end of the map. I personally recommend starting small and connecting cities first and then incrementally expand the line from there as money comes in to build your empire just like the real system was grown. Move that ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ metal and have fun!
