I set out with this to learn how to mod Warno. This is my first published mod. Its been a good experience and I will continue modding campaigns as they come out. Most of the changes are to OOB’s, unit composition, and weapons carried. The aim was to make the campaign both more challenging, and realistic in regard to the strategic units. There were changes made that don’t reflect realism, like giving the 4MSD Panzer Regiment T-72s, but that was to make the campaign more challenging for the NATO player and give the PACT player a better gun. Otherwise, changes I made were based on my own research on how Regiments, Battalions, and companies were composed.

Some highlights on what this mod does:

Had to remove the vehicle supply due to a crash occuring. Appologies, I’ll figure it out and add it back if I can.

Some Custom Units:
-Mot Schutzen and Mot Schutzen BTR now have the RPG-18 along with RPG-7. It doesn’t show up in the showroom UI but it does in-game.(Not sure how to do that) US Scouts now have 2 LAWs, so they aren’t totally defenseless. Dismount Troopers now have a Dragon II and fill the role of 1/3 of CavScout squads which carried this weapon. Engineers AGI for the DDR now have a new RPG ammo that is a thermobaric warhead that was introduced in 1988.

Reworked Regiments/Battalions:

NATO
-3-11 ACR Now has a proper recon troop cavalry troops are more accurate with the scouts and weapons they carry. HQ now was an ITV and FIST attachment. There is now 1 flight of 1xScout and 2x Attack Helo’s from the 4th Sqdn. 11 ACR. Seemed wierd there was not help support for this Cav Squadron.

-74 JG Is trimmed down and buffed at the same time. Removed 4 of the AA F4F’s, added some support from the US 10th TFS. 2x F16AA 2xF4G wild Weasel and 2x F16 Cluster Bombers. I cant see US air support being absent from such a battle and I had added too much previously.

– 5 Aufkl Reworked to be a proper and accurate FRG armored recon battalion.

– 4MSD – Many units upgraded for gameplay purposes while maintaining accurate unit structure. Armored Battalion now has T-72’s and T-72Ms, and a correct number of tanks in each company. Infantry regiments are all properly sorted with vehicles. 1x Battalion in BMP, 2x Battlion in BTR in each regiment, as it was. All infantry regiments have an AT company, tracked units just loose their ATGM vehicles since BMP’s already carry ATGM’s. Many tracked infantry regiments now have BMP-1P, some still maintain their BMP-1SP2. Engineer units now in BTR-50. More recon vehicles represented that were left out of the campaign, the east germans had no TO&E for these units and they were filled out with whatever recon vehicles were available. Exception being Heavy recon battalions/companies, but these weren’t represented in this campaign.

JG 8 – East German wing just had a few Mig-21 HE bombers added to each squadron for variety.
