Description:

TO MAKE THE MOD WORK PROPERLY, PUT IT BEFORE THE DEI MOD PACKS (AND DEI SUBMODS) IN THE LOADING ORDER OF THE ROME 2 LAUNCHER. (see in the pictures above)

IT SHOULD BE COMPATIBLE WITH MOST OF THE DEI SUBMODS, LIKE FOR EXAMPLE (which I suggest):

DeI – Realistic Charges, Speed, and Mass [DeI – Slower Battles]

DeI – Realistic Missiles and Projectiles

DESCRIPTION:

I love the DEI mods, but I wanted to improve the player experience regarding the evolution of the Roman Army.

To do this, I have reworked and divided the Roman Army of the mid republic into 3 eras:

1 "Early or Camillan Era" (playable only in Rise of the Republic Campain)

This is the Roman Army at the Times of Camillus (5th century B.C. until the Samnite Wars).

It is an army that relys heavily on the holpite phalax, is somewhat slow and clumsy, with powerful infantry but mediocre cavalry.
What makes it special is that all the units with Scutum Shields can use the Testudo formation (since during the siege of Veii, the Roman soldiers, led by Camillus, used the Testudo to approach the city’s walls)

2 "Mid or Livian Era" (playable both in the Rise of the Republic and Main Campain)

This is the Roman Army, as described by Titus Livius, around the times of the Samnite and Pyrrhic Wars.

In this period the Roman Army is transitioning into the more flexible Manipular Army; the Hastati are already using swords as their main weapons, while the Triarii have abbandoned the hoplite shield and can use the testudo formation.
All the Roman heavy infantry units are equipped with pila.

3 "Late or Polybian Era" (playable in the Main Campain, Hannibal at the Gates and Macedonian Wars )

This is the Army, as described by Polybius, at the times of the Punic Wars, that conquered the Mediterranean and that is becoming more "professional". This can be seen in their uniforms, higher morale and the wide variety of the formation that the units can employ on the battlefield.

This army has an incredibly powerful infantry, good, although expensive, cavalry but weak missile units and has to rely a lot on AOR and mercenaries troops for missile support.

Moreover, I have also reskinned the Marian and Imperial Roman units (and made some little changes to them) and reskinned or reworked all the Italic and Italic AoR units of the Main Campain/ Punic Wars.

Battles of Canne ad Zama were also reworked. Give them a try.

I tried my best to be as historical accurate as possible (without forgetting the gameplay balance of course).

Note: I made this mod for fun and as a tribute to the DEI mod series. I do not own any of the models used for the reskins. All the credits should go to the modders of DEI.
