Tier V Tome Tweaks
OPEN BETA- NOT COMPLETE
Welcome to Tier V Tome Tweaks! Be aware this release is an open beta, and contains new content for the Tome of the Arch-Mage, Eternal and God Emperor.
Introduction:
This small mod aims to expand the Tier V tomes so they feel more like real tomes in their own right, especially in games where the Magic Victory condition is disabled. New content will draw from both past games, and fill thematic holes in the existing Tier V tomes.
As well as new skills, this mod also adds a powerful building to each tome. As these buildings require a Tier IV Town Hall, they are not required to be researched, and are unlocked once you’ve selected the tome.
As this is a beta, I would love your feedback! Both on the content already in the game, and my drafted plans bewlow. Are the new skills worth using? Underpowered? Overpowered? I would also love ideas for the Tome of the Chaos Lord as I’m not sure at the moment.
New Content:
Tome of the Eternal Lord:
At last your ruler will truly become an Enternal Lord, with a new skill, the Phylactery Empire Bonus. This skill allows them to respawn the turn after being killed and cast spells while in the void.
The Aamaranthine Spire can also be constructed, an imposing spire that doubles the souls produced by a city, generates mana and provides bonus starting ranks to undead soldiers produced by the city.
Tome of the God Emperor:
I always found it odd that the Dome of Protection hero skill did not feature a corresponding spell, like many hero skills in the game. This has now been corrected, with the addition of the Emperor’s Aegis tactical spell, which heals units and allows you to place Domes of Protection at whim. The corresponding HS ability has also been renamed to Aegis Bearer for increased flavour and theme.
God Emperors can also erect the Sanctum Imperialis, a building which at last fulfils the promise of the tome’s description of inspiring your cities. The building provides some Imperium, +3 bonus ranks to all units produced in its city, and condemns all enemy units that enter its city’s domain.
Tome of the Arch-Mage:
Arch-Mages can now cast Planar Sphere, a sustained city spell that returns (with a new name) from Age of Wonders III. Enclosing a city within a planar sphere, enemy spellcasting is blocked on a strategic level, and vastly increased in cost in combat, in the city’s province.
The Epochal Archive provides access to knowledge from across time and space, and grants Arch-Mages +10 casting points, and vast amounts of knowledge and mana.
UPCOMING:
Please provide feedback on the below plans.
Tome of the Goddess of Nature:
Tome of the Goddess of Nature is planned to receive Life’s Wellspring (a renamed Eternal Earth), and the Call Elemental Titan (a renamed Call the Titan of Earth) skills. As part of this change, a ‘Primordial Call’ spell will be added to the Tome of Evolution and Druidic Terraformers (which will summon a random lesser elemental). Force of Nature will also be renamed to Wild Hunt. Their unique building, the Elemental Grove, will grant access to a World Roots spell (allowing an army to teleport to a city with the Elemental Grove), and convert food into mana. It MAY also allow the production of all five elemental spirits.
Tome of the Creator:
In addition to Teutonic Shatter and Earthshatter Engine, the Tome of the Creator will receive the Creator’s Blessing unit enchantment will provide buffs (TBD) to constructs. A new hero skill will also probably be added. New skills will also included Perfected Mana Cells (which converts mana and food into production), and Primordial Fission, a devastating campaign spell that deals massive damage to all units, razes all provinces and flattens all mountains, in the range (target and adjacent provinces). Its new building, the Great Arsenal, provides some binding essence, bonus ranks to constructs, and improves the conversion of draft and production into food and gold.
