Combat Skill Tree Buff For Generals
This mod buffs the combat skill tree (highlighted in the thumbnail image) for generals in the Shogun 2 vanilla campaign. Allocating skill points in this tree was previously a waste as even allocating all skill points of a rank 6 general into this skill tree resulted in a combat unit still weaker than a unit of katana cavalry. This mod increases the potency of this tree (example: Warrior used to increase Melee Defense by 1, 2, and 4 at ranks 1, 2, and 3. It now increases Melee Defense by 4, 8, and 12). The result is a unit comparable to other hero units in game when investing deep into the tree. Though the buffs to the skills are significant, the resulting unit is still far from overpowered, especially in comparison with the competing perks of the strategist branch. Note, poetry is also buffed on the strategist side as I never felt this was worth putting points into either. I wouldn’t be opposed to removing this change if there is enough demand for it.
Even with these fairly substantial changes, I feel that this skill tree could still be somewhat underpowered compared to the benefits of the Strategy tree. Please leave feedback below with your thoughts on the matter and I will update the mod according to the feedback I receive.
