Description:

Developed in Germany by Heckler & Koch GmbH, or ‘H&K’, the USP (Universelle Selbstladepistole or "universal self-loading pistol") is a semi-automatic sidearm designed primarily for commercial and law enforcement markets in the United States in 1989. Chambered in 9mm, this variant of the USP, the USP Match, is Gordon Freeman’s first firearm in Half-Life 2, and can be equipped with it’s signature steel "match weight" compensator. After the Combine’s takeover of Earth and appropriation of the world’s remaining weapons, they have since modified and replicated the USP Match design for their lesser, human Civil Protection force – along with creating a few more enhancements for those who serve the Combine well.

Despite it’s improvements, it’s lack of an ID palm reader means that just about anyone could pick up and use it – talk about an oversight…

If this addon doesn’t appear to work for you in the campaign, try starting from Chapter 2 instead, after the train ride. The one level transition during Chapter 1 disables Workshop addons, so you’ll have to start from Chapter 2 instead for it to work throughout the entire campaign.

Please also note that enabling this addon, then loading from a previous save file will NOT cause this replacement to appear – if you’re playing through the campaign and would like to use this addon, try starting a new game (with addons enabled) from whatever point was closest to your original save. There may also be some custom maps on the Workshop with their own pistol replacements included, in which case this replacement may or may not work – I’m not entirely sure how addons take priority over each other, but it’s safe to assume there could be potential issues.
