Description:

The only Knights who walk are those who have nothing left to prove…and those who have nothing left at all.

This mod adds two units of lore friendly, dismounted Knights to the Bretonnia roster, with the intention of helping to stabilise your infantry lines and make being besieged that little bit less painful. Neither should beat the game for you by themselves, but should help make it a bit more fun.

* Beggar Knights are young Knights Errant whose families were too poor to loan them a spare horse or purchase them proper plate armour. Mocked by their peers as "peasant lovers," and regarded as one step removed from mercenaries or brigands, they live hardscrabble lives on the roads of Bretonnia, seeking opportunities to win renown and improve their social status. They have solid base stats by the standards of Bretonnian infantry, which their Virtue of Empathy ability bolsters when they fight to defend the peasantry, and have Strider for that bit of extra mobility. Not particularly killy when compared to Foot Squires or Battle Pilgrims, they work well alongside both, with their Knight attribute triggering the Peasants’ Duty and helping your Men-at-Arms, Squires, and Pilgrims hold the line. They are recruited from the second level of the Tavern building chain, which also adds a unit of them to your garrison.

* Hermit Knights are ageing Grail warriors who have retired from active adventuring to spend their last years protecting Grail relics, shrines of the Lady, and other sites and items of religious importance. They rarely, if ever, leave their posts, but can provide valuable aid to nearby settlements should an invader encroach upon the holy ground they are defending. Essentially dismounted Grail Guardians with the stat line and abilities to match, albeit slightly reduced to represent their advanced age and the fact that they aren’t on their barded warhorse. Campaign Exclusive, they cannot be recruited into your armies, but will be added to your garrisons by the top level Worship building and by some of the Bretonnian landmarks. This gives you an elite infantry unit that can actually stand on your walls during sieges and should be a big help in hanging onto your most important settlements.

Hopefully you have as much fun playing with these units as we did making them and please let us know what you think.
