Saipan & Tinian Island Map v0.1
HISTORICAL BACKGROUND:
The battles of Tinian and Saipan were part of the greater strategic operation known as the Mariana and Paulau Islands Campaign. Sometimes referred to as the "D-day of the pacific", the goal of the operation was to conquer Tinian to server as a base from which to capture the main prize, the Island of Saipan, from which the US would be one step closer to bringing the war to an end. During the battle, hardened marines and GI’s would fight against the fanatical japanese defenders, who were to make use of the biggest banzai attack of the war, featuring over 4000 combatants charging into almost certain death. The battle would see 71,000 US Army and USMC troops face of against 31,000 army and navy soldiers of the Japanese Empire, the end result being the almost complete destruction of the Japanese defenders.
NOTE:
The map might give errors when you try to generate a battle. The problem here is impassible water. Try to exclude as much impassible water as possible from your battlefield, or alternatively try making the water passable from the pre-battle objective screen.
