As the new millennium dawned, a power vacuum emerged, creating a canvas for a new era with shifting dynamics across the globe.
In Germany, the path to reunification continued to unfold, while the fall of Yugoslavia marked the beginning of a transformation in the Balkans. New and old powers alike were positioning themselves for a new dawn, anticipating the opportunities and challenges that lay ahead.
However, in Russia, the short collapse of the Russian Empire shook the country to its core. Russia’s aspirations of being the world’s sole superpower seemed to crumble within a few weeks. The vacuum left by this collapse created uncertainty and a reevaluation of global power dynamics.
Meanwhile, in Africa, the road to independence was proving to be long and arduous. Only a handful of nations could proudly declare themselves free, while others continued to grapple with the challenges of achieving sovereignty and self-determination.
In the Americas, the spirit of communism persisted, finding a new expression during the Mexican Civil War. A faction within the Mexican armed forces, identifying themselves as the ‘Mexican People’s Army,’ emerged under the banner of the Mexican Armed Forces. They seized spare weapons, raided convoys, and gradually amassed the means to challenge the existing order. With separatist victories providing momentum, the People’s Army launched a surprise attack on the Mexican Armed Forces. Their swift and decisive victories dismantled the hopes of other factions, paving the way for the fall of the Mexican Popular Front.
Belize and Argentina, both governed by socialist regimes, saw common cause with the socialist movement in Mexico. Together, they formed a military alliance known as the Latin American Socialist States (LASS). This alliance signaled a regional shift towards socialism, adding a new layer to the geopolitical landscape of the Americas.
In China, the protracted civil war entered its final months. The Socialist Unions of China and the Republic of China prepared for their ultimate confrontation, with the fate of the nation hanging in the balance. The British and Dutch victories over the Japanese created a new dynamic in the region, allowing the two nations to focus on their final stand against each other, reshaping the future of East Asia.
The world stood at the brink of change, with various regions experiencing shifts in power, the rise of new alliances, and the culmination of long-standing conflicts. The unfolding events hinted at a complex and interconnected global landscape, where the decisions of one region reverberated across continents, shaping the destiny of nations in this new era.
This is probably the final cannon ‘Honorable Giant’ as I wanna focus on alternative timelines for this series as I think it will be far more enjoyable.
