Zessen
Zessen is a hard-hitting punish character centered around conditioning the opponent to attack then cashing out with powerful counterattacks.
Some of Zessens attacks have a special window called Guardpoint where you can choose a frame to block either high or low (depending on the attack used) while attacking and cancel into special follow-ups on success. You may not always want to cancel into these follow-ups, however, as triggering a Guardpoint and following through with the original attack results in more damage than hitting normally.
His signature pressure move, Fuujin, is +2 on block and gives Zessen the opportunity to mix his opponent up with Shin, Nagiha, Issokutobi, and Rin, each requiring different counterplay. The plus frames make Zessen’s Guardpoints even stronger as he can now use them to defend against faster moves like jabs.
Suigetsu no Hakobi grants access to empowered versions of Fuujin and Kou, but it can also be cancelled into Twirl. Twirl allows Zessen to gracefully dance through his opponent’s attacks while approaching and then start a combo with an attack of his choice during their recovery. You can also cancel Suigetsu no Hakobi into Fuuga to store the charge if you have downtime.
Refined is a new super allowing Zessen to materialize a cloud of butterflies that can be controlled with the DI wheel. Standing in the cloud empowers all of his normals to spawn projectiles, along with enhancing some of his specials as well. The cloud has limited energy and is hard to slow down / turn around once it gets going, so you have to be smart with it.
Note : This character is not completely finished and I’m still gonna add some more effects. Expect to see more particles and custom sounds in the future.
