TL;DR;

New toys for dwarfs, elves, humans, goblins, and kobolds. The mod introduces a set of toys and games that can be created from various materials.

Introduction

I felt that 4 generic toys in the game is much too little. I decided to create a set of toys and games that can be created from various materials.

Dwarfs (Montain)
  1. rocks collection (unique for dwarfs)

Elves (Forest)

Design Decisions

Game do not allow to define materials for toys so I decided to not add toys directly to entities (civilizations)
I decided to create reactions for them (under make toys category) and use proper materials for them.
That limits ability to buy toys from caravans but I think I will be able to introduce workaround for that in the future.

Where I could I tried to use existing art for the toys so they would fit the game style.
I made all pointy toys pointing from right to left – opposite as weapons are shown in the game – to make them more distinguishable.
I added (toy) at the end of the name to make them more distinguishable from other items.


Other

Plans

Depending how the mod will be received I plan to add:

  • More Toys and Games (I have a pending list of 20+ items)
  • Dedicated interactions for some spec toys
  • Workaround for buying toys from caravans

Issues
  1. There is no ability to buy toys from caravans
  2. There is no ability to start with this toys
  3. Toys can be improved (by game default behavior) and I can not block that – so it may lead to some strange situations for some toys

Compatibility

The mod should be compatible with other mods. It uses SELECT and do not remove existing objects. It may not work if there is a mod that alter by CUT and re-adding the MOUNTAIN entity. If you encounter any issues, please let me know.

Using in Other Mods

Please feel encouraged to use this resource as a dependency in your mod. If you need just a subset of features and others are misalignment with your vision – please contact me – it is likely there will be no problem from my side to create a resource-only mod (or mods) with content you require.

You have idea for a toy

I could add an idea to the queue of toys to be added. Please let me know in the comments. But I can not promise I will be able to deliver that.
If you would like to increase the chance of adding your idea please provide 32×32 pixel art for the toy.
