KTB reworks the balance of the Kill the Balrog decision to end the Moria Struggle.

Features

Increasing your chance to kill the Balrog in the dormant phase has been completely reworked. Remember, your chance starts at 0%.

  • You get 1% for every five (5) martial you have, rounded down.
    • You’ll need your army’s help. So here’s hoping you know how to lead an army.
  • You get 1% for every five (5) prowess you have, rounded down.
    • When it comes to landing the killing blow, that’s going to have to be you. Let’s see if you know how to wield an axe.
  • You get 1% for every Delving you control in the Struggle Region.
  • You also get 1% for every two(2) settlements you control in the Struggle Region.
    • The more area you control, the more strategic you can be in trapping and, hopefully, killing the Balrog.
  • You get 5% for wearing the Durin’s Helm.
  • You get 5% for wielding the Axe of During.
    • Both of the artifacts are endowed with lost Dwarven magics that will aid in fighting the Balrog. While their presence in the battle will harden the resolve of the Dwarves around you, let’s just hope they help you more than they did Durin VI.
  • You get 5% if you are either Friends or Best Friends with an Elven King or Queen AND they are your ally.
    • Convincing one of the fabled Elven leaders still in Middle-Earth to come to your aid shouldn’t be easy. Fighting Balrogs is a fool’s errand. And Elves aren’t fools.
  • You get 10% if you are Friends or Best Friends with Glorfindel.
    • Though he died doing so, Glorfindel is the only living soul in Middle-Earth to ever kill a Balrog. With his return from Valinor, it is rumored that his power rivals that of the Maiar. Let’s hope that’s true or we might be responsible for his second death… which isn’t near as enjoyable as second breakfase.
  • You get 10% if you are Friends or Best Friends with Glorfindel & you are either Friends or Best Friends with an Elven King or Queen AND they are your ally.
    • The best way to keep Glorfindel alive is to let him lead a host of Middle-Earth’s greatest Elven warriors, who just so happen were sent to aid you by your friend, ally, and idiot-in-arms Elven monarch.

Other Changes

  • You can now take the decision any time you are in the dormant phase and are not incapable, travelling, imprisoned, a child, etc.
    • There is no longer a prowess requirement. If you’re fool enough to fight the Balrog, have at it.
  • Your chance of surviving your encounter with the Balrog starts at 0%, even if you kill it. Your final chance is increased by the following factors.
    • Add your prowess score. So, if you have a 37 in Prowess, your now have a 37% chance of survival.
    • If you are Hale, add another 1%. If you’re Robust, it’s 2%. And if you’re Herculean, your chance increases by 3%.
    • Quick, Intelligent, and Genius work the same way, with increasing percentages of 1%, 2%, and 3%.
    • Finally, each of the following traits grants you a 3% increase:
      • Blademaster
      • Holy Warrior
      • Berserker
      • Strong
  • There is a Game Rule called KTB – Show the Success Chance of Killing the Balrog that allows you to hide the success chance in the decision description.
    • This is just for flavor if you don’t want to know your chances for RP reasons.
