Designed and built for Reforged Eden 1.10+

This is a rebuild of the my original Ranger Exploration Vessel redesigned specifically for Reforged Eden 1.10+ with numerous additions, changes and upgrades.

The Ranger started out with the inspiration from the Burn Deluxe mk2 micro CV built by Whizzdom. I loved the shape and thought it looked like the front of a Klingon bird of prey. So using it as a starting point, I gutted the insides, and kept the basic shape for the front of the ship. From there, I wanted to build a CV to use in the RE 1.10+ scenarios and for our play-through it needed hit a few goals:

  • It needed to have nacelles…because they are cool.
  • It needed to have a large SV ship bay big enough to handle at least two or more assault SVs
  • It needed to have a single line traffic design to that one central hall connects everything.
  • It needed to be designed to be expandable, flexible, and mid-range in size.
  • It needed to have spaces for grow plots, production, and lots of cargo space.

With all that in mind, I present the TGS Ranger Exploratory Vessel. She may not be the slickest, fanciest ship, but she has everything that you will need as a home among the stars.

This new version has many features that the older version does not. All nacelles have been redesigned to be bigger and have spaces for all sorts of upgrades. Much block work has been redone for aesthetics, and functionality. Many rooms have had complete redesigns with some complete new additions.

The Ranger is designed to be a starter CV that you can upgrade as you go. It can be spawned with materials that you can find in your starting system, so all you will need is a short range jump drive to collect the materials. You should be able to take the Ranger all the way to the mid-game at least. It is not, however, a battle ship. Do not attempt to fly it as one. It’s main role is as a home base for exploratory missions and trade.

One other note: Because of how the engines are fitted into the nacelles, you might have issues with "Thruster Blocked" rules if you play on a server that enforces that rule. I do not, so your mileage may vary.

Features:
  • Fully oxygenated environment.
  • Large twin side access shuttle bay for SVs. Lots of room for a few gun ships to take out POIs.
  • Large lower shuttle bay with ground level access for HVs tanks or mining vehicles.
  • Side exit airlocks (both port & starboard) near the front of the ship for space base docking.
  • Landing Gear with signal controlled Landing Lights for planetary landings and exploration.
  • All devices/lights/equipment/deco labeled and mapped.
  • Space for 36x growing plots located in the top level hydroponics bay.
  • Space for 18x pentaxid growing plots in sealed rooms for radiation.
  • Galley, crew quarters, room for a full medical suite and refrigerators for food prep and medical storage.
  • Central small shuttle bay located near the bridge for drone access, captain’s yacht, or as seen in the screen shots, his and hers mining SVs.
  • Lots of cargo capacity (640k x4) with four controllers located in the main shuttle bay with lots extra categorized containers for salvage, trading, etc.
  • Full dedicated Production room for adding constructors and ore processing.
  • Multiple hard-points for adding turrets, guns and even mining lasers located all over the hull.
  • Engineering section for adding a warp drive, and shields.
  • Areas located in the nacelles for shield upgrade parts.
  • Areas located in the nacelles for generator upgrades.
  • Ground access for crew in the front and rear of the ship.
  • Space in the main cargo bay to add a teleporter with a pre-programmed motion sensor to turn it on and off.
  • All interior lights are set to motion sensors so they will go off when you are not around and come on when you enter the room.
  • Areas on each nacelle for solar panels (RE feature) located on the nacelles. Space for 24 small and several large panels.
  • Snazzy new paint job and color scheme.
Upgrades To-Do
  • Add CPU to the spots laid out near the bridge. Can go all the way to T4 with space around the ship for aux cores if you need it later.
  • Add a warp drive and pentaxid tank to the engineering section.
  • Add a shield (room for full shields) and shield upgrades (RE Feature) to the engineering section.
  • Upgrade/Add thrusters to nacelles for better speed and maneuverability.
  • Add grow plots to the hydroponics bay to get your plants growing…it’s medicinal, I swear!
  • Add generators (currently 4) and fuel tanks to the nacelles. Lots of extra room to add more in the four nacelles.
  • Add more turrets and guns to the hard-points located around the ship.
