Description:
About

This is a faithful recreation of all the nexus worlds in Yume Nikki just in time for the 20th anniversary. Yume Nikki is an old dream exploration game made in RPG Maker in 2004. The goal is simply to explore and collect what are known as "effects". This map only contains the first 12 dream worlds and a couple of additional connecting worlds.

FAQ

How do I leave the bedroom?

Press E on the bed to start dreaming.

I got stuck/lost, how do I get back to the bedroom without noclipping?

Die and respawn.

Can you add X world to this map?

Eventually I will upload a complete version of the map containing every world. I have been working on this map on and off for 2 years but put out this cut down version with just the nexus worlds for the anniversary.

What am I supposed to do?

Explore and look for the "effects" if you want. There are 15 collectibles that lead to a sort of ending to this map if you want a goal. The original game is obscure and I left it that way for this map as well, if you need help, consult the Yume Nikki wiki.

Are there AI nodes/a navmesh?

Honestly, no. I don’t really think it’s worth the effort for this map since it’s entirely built around teleports. The map was designed mostly to be explored and interacted with rather than sandbox gameplay.

Why is my game so laggy?

I have no clue to be honest. Everyone I had play-test the map so far hasn’t had performance issues unless they were in multiplayer. I only ever play Garry’s Mod in the 64 bit branch so try that or disable all addons if you’re having issues. The map will not render areas you aren’t in unless you’re noclipping, so there shouldn’t be massive drops in performance.

Can I use the effects?

The lamp effect will make Dark World visible, the knife effect will allow you to kill the NPCs in Number World and the umbrella will put out the fire in Underground World upon interaction. The rest of the effects are purely for collection with no function. When I create the final version of the map, every effect will be usable and will function the way they do in the original game.

Can you disable the music?

Use the in-game music slider
