Description:

Replaces and adds a lot of new ingame-style loading screen images used by CA when promoting the game.

INTRO

Are you finally bored of the 12 default, concept art loading screen images in ROME II? Do you wish for some ingame-style loading screens instead, as seen in previous Total War titles (e.g. MEDIEVAL II)? Do you want a large variety of them?

Well, you’ve found the right mod!

NOTE: Yes, the mod is still up to date and works perfectly with the latest Patch 20 (Ancestral + Rise of the Republic). The latest version also includes images used to promote Empire Divided, Desert Kingdoms and Rise of the Republic.

ABOUT

"Promotional Loading Images" replaces the 12 default loading images with high-quality, ingame-style loading screen images – with 88 more to increase variety. These new images were originally created by CA for promoting the game’s release and its subsequent DLCs. You will see images taken from various ROME II promotional media; there are images from the faction showcases, from the trailers (these have been edited slightly to be on par with the quality of the other images) and from their free-LC update blogs. Some of them have been photoshopped by me to properly fit with the small image space. Now, hopefully, you won’t get so easily bored with the loading screen! The file size is 300mb since there are 100 images taking up around 3mb each in .png format – the quality you get is worth the download wait time.

While this is a very easy kind of mod to create, I felt that having ingame-style loading images actually adds slightly more immersion to the game and also adds more to the game’s aesthetic than the concept art did. You can see the parts of the game which you won’t normally be looking for, or which you can’t; some of these aren’t even in the game. On that issue, it puts to use some of the unused shots from CA’s trailers and other promotional material to at least some good use rather than not being in the game, for which it was promoting, at all.

As well as this, I have also made a minor alteration; I have changed the colour of the Spartan background from dark red to dark blue, to make it stand out more when compared to the Roman background which was the same colour. Having two red backgrounds did not feel right to me. However, if you’re against this change and prefer the good old dark red version of the Spartan background, comment below. I may, if there are enough requests, remove this and make it a separate, optional file to subscribe to.

COMPATIBILITY

Consider that enabling other mods, which change the Spartan background(s) and the loading images, will make this mod not work correctly. Disable any other mod that alters the same fields and it should work. Other than that, it will definitely work with any other kind of mod. However, if you experience any issues / have any questions, post a comment below and I will happily try and help you out / answer your questions.

THANK YOU

Special thanks to:

  • Patrons – For supporting my efforts modding Total War: ROME II – without all your encouragement and generosity, this would not have been possible.

And finally, thank you for reading and (hopefully) rating + subscribing! I put a lot of my free time into this, and am glad it’s finally done for all of you to enjoy.
