Terrace
Map time. This is Terrace, Canada. This is a map I have wanted to make for a while, but the river slopes downwards from right to left, and with the flat water levels in the game, it never looked right, so I passed it over. That was, until I tried a new method to edit the heightmap in GIMP, using the gradient tool, in darken only mode, with an opacity of 30 or so. It balanced out the land close to the river so that it was reasonable across the whole map. I am hoping to apply this method to more of my future maps.
Now on to the map. There are mountains around the edges of the maps, and some hills in the buildable area. The river should be wide enough for shipping, at least on the west side border. There is also a water area on the south side of the map where you can do shipping. There is plenty of flat land on this map. The resources are spread across the map, so expect to cover large distances if you want to use all of the different deposits.
