TGV Atlantique
    And no, Christmas is not over yet! Commissioned between 1988 and 1992 during the opening of the first branch of the LGV Atlantique, the TGV Atlantique trains are a series of 105 units ordered by SNCF in the late 80s from Alsthom to connect the western French cities to Paris Montparnasse via the new high-speed line. This second generation of TGV is characterized by a more aerodynamic locomotive profile and a larger number of cars, 10 compared to 8 for their older Sud-Est sisters. The speed of these trains is pushed up to 300 km/h in commercial service and their power reaches 8800 kW under 25kv and is reduced to 3880 kW under 1.5kv. These trainsets, reaching 237 meters in single unit and over 470 meters in multiple unit, cannot be accommodated in all French stations, the platform length being too short. Externally, they do not feature the original TGV PSE livery, but rather the Atlantique livery designed by Roger Tallon. They also abandon the famous ”cap” notable of the TGV Sud-Est in favor of a more aerodynamic roof. Among the 105 units produced, some were modified: units numbered 372 to 379 to ensure uninterrupted passenger service on the ”TGV-Vendée” routes between Montparnasse and Les Sables-d’Olonnes, hauled by CC72000 locomotives, as the line is not electrified. The Atlantique trainsets underwent two renovations during their long career: One between 2005 and 2009 where they swapped the Atlantique livery for the Lacroix livery, as well as a new interior layout. A second renovation was completed at the end of 2022, where 28 units could wear the Inoui livery, the others being scrapped.
