Description:

ÖBB 1010/1110:

The ÖBB 1010 was a six-axle electric mainline locomotive originally designed for express train use, which was procured by the Austrian Federal Railways from 1955.
The ÖBB 1110 was designed for freight traffic, had a modified gear ratio for higher tractive effort, but lower top speed.
After the delivery of newer, faster locomotives, the 1010 was also almost exclusively used in freight traffic until its end.

In 1974, 10 ÖBB 1110s received an electrical resistance brake and were renamed ÖBB 1110.5.

In the 1990s, many locomotives received new, enlarged driver’s cabs and locomotive fronts.

The use of these robust locomotives ended in 2003.
