Update 1.1 is here. Check the change notes for details.

Shovel Knight from Shovel Knight joins the battle!

Shovel Knight uses his shovel alongside many different relics to attack. His double jump is notably smaller than his ground jump. A few of his moves have special properties letting them be more accurate to the original game.

Jab / Side Tilt / Neutral Air / Forward Air : Dig Slash
Just like in his game, Shovel Knight’s main attack is his dig slash. It is fast, spammable, and can be done almost anywhere. Regardless of the version being used, holding the attack button will transition directly into side strong. This means it is possible to use side strong in the air.

Side Strong : Charge Slash
Shovel Knight readies his shovel, and charges a large slash. After it is finished being normally charged, Shovel Knight enters a special charge state that can be held indefinitely. He can even slowly move and turn around while holding the charge!

Fastfall Attack : Shovel Drop
If the down button is held while in the air, Shovel Knight performs his iconic shovel drop. This is not the same as down aerial. This only requires holding down, not pressing attack. If he hits an opponent, he will bounce up a bit. Because of this attack, Shovel Knight is unable to fastfall during Air Idle.

Neutral Special : Flare Wand
Shovel Knight pulls out the Flare Wand and shoots a fireball. It is weak but spammable.

Side Special : Dust Knuckles
Shovel Knight starts punching forward with the dust knuckles. Holding down the special button allows you to continue punching. Holding left or right allows you to quickly turn while still punching. Just like in the original game, hitting an opponent causes you dash through them. It can be used 20 times before needing to cool down by sitting in idle.

Up Special : Rising Dagger
Shovel Knight pulls out the Rising Dagger and flies upwards. While it can deal a bit of damage, don’t rely on it doing much.

Down Special : Troupple Chalice
Shovel Knight drinks Ichor from a Troupple Chalice, which can offer multiple powerful effects. In the original game, you could only carry two at once, so in this moveset you can only use two per stock.

—Red Chalice : Ichor of Renewal
Heal for 30%

—Blue Chalice : Ichor of Boldness
Increase defense from 1.5 -> 18.0 for 10 seconds.

—Yellow Chalice : Ichor of Fortune
In the original game, this Ichor would attract treasure, food, and other items. Since there are no items, it will instead attract opponents (grab them) within a very high range, while doing some damage.

Ultra : The Troupple King
The Troupple King falls from the sky, crushing anyone in his way. Once he reaches shovel knight, he stops and refills both of Shovel Knight’s troupple chalices, so be sure to use both of them beforehand.
