1989 Batmobile
This is a hover vehicle (HV) of the famous 1989 "Keaton" or "Burton" Art Deco Batmobile from 1989’s Batman and 1992’s Batman Returns.
If you like this vehicle, please "Thumbs up" this page! It alerts me to the content people like and what I should build next.
This specific HV really is designed to be a 1:1 replica of the Batmobile. Here is the breakdown of Pros and Cons:
Pros:
– It is fully enclosed, airtight, and ventilated.
– It has most survival necessary gear (O2 station, Armor locker, Medkit under dash, Fridge)
– There is actually a shield generator so it offers advanced defense.
– It has Jump Pads.
Cons:
– Docking requires a Beam or Beam Quarter "landing pad" on the floor (see pictures)
– It is currently unarmed, however, I have marked where the guns would go, as seen in one of the last photos.
– It is mainly useful for travel, survival, and some storage, but it has no harvest and limited/no offense capabilities.
Docking:
Unlike all other vehicles, HV’s only have one method of docking: a docking pad (no retractable landing gear option). Because of how physics works on HV’s (and SV’s for that matter) any structural block, regardless of shape, will have a full cube block’s collision volume when colliding with a CV, a Base, or terrain. As a result, "Thin" wall blocks used as flooring (as with this Batmobile) will cause a full block’s worth of collision, effectively raising the vehicle one full block, making it "hover" even when the power is off, because it is resting on the invisible, larger collision volume of this/these thin wall block(s). If a docking pad is on the same "level" as these wall blocks, their collision will effectively render the docking pad useless, as the HV will not be able to go low enough to make the pad have contact with the ground.
The solution, is to create a large enough area around the docking pads free of any other wall blocks, and to add either a Beam or Quarter beam "landing pad" that the HV can land on, as that "pad" will be free to "slot" into the relief made by the docking pad. See pictures and comment if you have any questions on this specific workaround.
Offense:
As noted above, I left the guns off this build because they are big, bulky, and do not retract. In addition, some of the detailed design needs to be removed to clear the path for the guns. Nevertheless, all you have to do is remove some top layer pieces, add the guns, and swap out the Container controller for an Ammo Container controller, and then you will have an armed Batmobile, with the weapons accurate to where they were in the film.
Design notes:
I originally built this as more of a Back to The Future (2015) flying vehicle, as seen in the last few photos, and then slapped some actual wheels on it just to see how it would look, and thought it looked pretty good. The two hover versions are "thin" and "beefy," the thin sporting the same landing issues as this "wheeled" version, while the "beefy" version sports a thicker bottom layer, and is capable of landing and docking onto a ship or base. Please let me know if either of those interest you and I will release them as well.

Special Thanks:
Finally I want to credit FREDMONSTER for his excellent work years back on what was the best 1989 Batmobile on the workshop. Years ago, I used his model as reference to solve some design issues on another SV build, and recently made a better HV version of my old SV I never released. The front Center turbine, constructor as a dash, and rear slope and access were all directly taken from his build, so go check it out: it is a bigger, tankier version:
