Description:
Important announcement!
Black Mesa: Damocles (Phase I) is now 1.5 compatible!

After creating some multiplayer maps, I decided to work on a new story based singleplayer mod for Black Mesa.

Installation:

Go to */Steam/steamapps/workshop/content/362890/1679082670 and look for the item folder of Damocles.
In Linux this is usually located in your home directory under .local/share/.

-Launch the damo_gamelink.bat as administrator
-Check, if the symbolic link "damocles" has been created in the Black Mesa folder

For Linux users there is a damo_gamelink.sh. In Linux usually no root privileges are required.

————— If the gamelink doesn’t work —————
-Copy the damocles folder and the damo.bat into your Black Mesa game root directory ( This is where the bms.exe is located! ). (When a new version is released, you have to do this again to update your files. Steam only updates the files in the workshop directory)

Launching the Mod

-Run via filesystem: Launch the damo.bat file (Linux users can use the damo.sh)
-Run via Steam: Go to your game properties and type "-game damocles" into your launch options but don’t forget to remove this entry when you want to play Black Mesa again.
-Run old UI via Steam: Same as before but this time "-game damocles -oldgameui"

About Damocles:

Damocles is a story based singleplayer mod that takes place in a secret prototype laboratory located at the borders of the Black Mesa Research Facility. You are witness of the Black Mesa incident and find yourself inside an unknown laboratory where you have to escape from. You meet a new friend and encounter familiar enemies, such as the extraterrestrial Xenian aliens and the HECU military forces.

Content:

-new storyline
-14 new maps with about 4 – 6 hours of gameplay
-new models, textures, sounds and characters
-additional soundtrack
-new gameplay mechanics and functions
-new puzzles and challanges

Upcomming content:

Keep in mind that this is just the beginning! There is still much work to do, including bugfixing, optimization, performance improvement, and new content. The second phase will include about 10 new maps as well as new functions and concepts. I’ll also do my best to include more profound features like:

-new weapons
-interactive cutscenes and assets
-controllable vehicles (if we get engine support back)
-new enemies and puzzles

Don’t hesitate to share feedback in the comments below and let me know if you encounter any kind of annoying bugs or issues that slows down your experience.
But please keep in mind, that the puzzles intend to be challenging! Visit the Puzzle Help Center, if you have problems solving them.

Stay tuned and have fun!
