Description:

By 2008, ViP wanted to have converted the entire Potsdam tram fleet to low-floor Combino vehicles. At this point, 48 of these cars were scheduled to run on Potsdam’s tracks. After the contract with Siemens was terminated due to significant design defects in this type of car, the transport company had to deal again with tendering for new tram cars. This was completed in May 2008 and led to a purchase agreement for 18 “Variobahn” vehicles from Stadler.
