Description:

The 8000 Series (8000系) is an EMU operated by Tokyo Metro on the Tokyo Metro Hanzōmon Line.
Introduced in 1981 as the Hanzōmon Line’s first dedicated rolling stock. The 8000 series was originally a mixture of 6, 8, and 10-car sets, additional cars were manufactured in 1994 to bring all sets up to 10-car. In total, 190 cars in 19 sets were manufactured. From 2004-2015, the type underwent extensive refurbishment, with updated control devices, motors, and power supply equipment. As the series reached 40+ years in service, Tokyo Metro has begun gradual replacement with the new 18000 series since 2021, scheduled to be complete in 2025. The type through-runs onto the Tokyu Den-en-toshi Line, Tobu Skytree Line, Tobu Nikkō Line, and Tobu Isesaki Line.
