This scenic geography extends from the sprawling metropolis of New York City and Long Island in the south, along the meandering Hudson River Valley, passed the Adirondack Mountains, into Lake Champlain, and ends with the city of Montreal, Quebec perched upon islands in the St Lawrence River.

The waterway is fully navigable from Montreal to New York City to enable shipping by boat. This map is designed as a linear corridor centered by the Hudson Valley. There are three main hubs of industry and cities: New York City, including Jersey City and Newark to the west; the New York State capital city of Albany with neighbouring Troy and Schenectady; and Canada’s second largest population centre around Montreal, Quebec.

Also included is the Connecticut River, with Hartford along the banks. Other communities including New London, New Haven, Bridgeport, and Springfield fill out the south-east of the map. Towns along the Hudson River include Poughkeepsie, Haverstraw, Glens Falls, and Kingston.

There are also peripheral towns with industries including those deeper in the mountains such as Montpelier, Rutland, Brattleboro, and Lake Placid. In Quebec, smaller towns include Sherbrooke, Drummondville, Granby, Sorel, Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, and Mont-Tremblant.
