Description:
Overview

Do you like ancient history? Are you a Greek that aims to satisfy his latent nationalism? Are you just tired of the usual "Byzantium is back from the dead" mods? Then this mod is for you!

"Hellenistic Age" is a small mod I threw together that aims to create a """realistic""" scenario where the rule of the ancient hellenistic culture never ended. Two millenia of colonialism, assimilation and development has permanently changed the face of south-eastern Europe, with the modern Greek culture and languages standing dominant.

Story

The Point of Divergence lies in 312 BCE, when a Phrygian-backed Athens managed to unify several poleis in central Greece and the Saronic gulf, placing the resurgent democratia as a contender in the conflict of the Diadochi.
I did not aim to create a total rework of the game, so you can imagine a hellenistic state conviniently placed where other entities existed in history (f.e. the Eastern Roman Empire), so that these places evolve by interacting with a similar entity, in terms of strenght, culture and politics.

Content

– A new geopolitical entity, Greece, stretching over two continents.
– A reworked map of Greece’s territories, with 3 new states and dozents of new cities.
– A few new cultures. The divergence of Greek into 3 new languages: Cappadocian, Pontic and Tsakonian, as well as the survival of several native cultures: Thracian, Galatian, Lycian and Pisidian.
– 2 new power blocks, the Greek-led "Eastern Commonwealth" and the Egyptian-led "Islamic Coalition".

Mod Compatibility

This mod won’t work properly with any mod that alters the position of map objects, provinces, or states in South Europe and the Middle East. Aside from that, I’ve altered a few files in the "common" and "localization folder. I recommend checking it out to see what vanilla files have been altered (my files are the ones with "HA" at the beggining, all others are vanilla files).

Future Plans

I would like to add flavour events and mechanics in the future for topics like archeology, ethnogenesis, discrimination of native cultures, etc. I welcome suggestions and help with writting/scripting by any one that wants to get involved.
