Stadsspoor Metro
A metro based on a drawing from a paper about the 1968 Amsterdam Stadsspoor (City Railway) plan. This plan envisioned a vast metro network for the city of Amsterdam as a means to end congestion once and for all. Using 8 car metro trainsets the network would have been very high capacity.
However the plan had it’s flaws too, on some parts it was envisioned that the picturesque canals of Amsterdam could be used to house the metro. The available above ground space would then become upgraded to wider multiple lane roads and due to the capacity the metro network provided the tram network would have in turn been likely torn up.
Instead Amsterdam constructed only one of the proposed lines initially, demolishing an entire neighbourhood to make way for metro construction, leading to several riots. After this the word metro became a taboo in Amsterdam, focussing on "Sneltrams" or Fast-trams/light rail instead. What this actually meant was more metro lines, but not by destroying dense urban areas anymore. Though the constructed Sneltram lines were in essence still metro lines, but with the rolling stock having a pantograph and the ability to run on mixed lines with regular trams, although this provided many issues.
This mod is a what if should the Stadsspoor plan have been implemented. The mod includes a two car metro train with a 100km/h top speed, 350 passenger capacity (2 cars, an 8 car set would have a capacity of 1400 passengers) and five skins. Available from 1968 till 2008. Purchasable with dollars.
