Description:

The northeastern area of Chiba prefecture is a region in Japan known for its rich cultural heritage and varied natual beauty. First, we have the city of Narita, which, in addition to being the home of Tokyo Narita International Airport, is renowned for the historic Naritasan Shinshoji Temple, attracting pilgrims and tourists alike. Moving eastward, the landscape transitions into lush rice fields and charming rural villages along the Tone river, which has historically served as a crucial transport link. Finally, Choshi, located at the mouth of the Tone, has long been a major commercial hub that links the Pacific to areas inland. It is also known for the scenic Inubosaki Cape, the easternmost point of the Kanto region, as well as the marine cliffs of Byobugaura.

The roads and settlements depicted in this map are based on Meiji-era (1894-1915) maps.
