Description:

Because it relies on The Roost Machine mod, this mod only works on the gateofhorn (beta branch) version of the game.

"I am not complete. There is some essence missing from the center of my being. I ache, and therefore I wander. I search for a place where the sky is technicolor, and for my missing Other Half"

In The Mariner Legacy you are not a scholar, but a different form of adept. Yours are the Intuitive Arts, the powers of story and song. You travel the world on your ship ‘The Kite’, searching for the wonders that hide beneath the skin of the world and the truths hidden behind common tales. One Hour may whisper secrets in your ear, while others tug at your heartstrings. Which mysteries will you pursue? Which places will you discover? What stories will you tell?

Which destiny shall you fulfill?

"Not all stories of the Mansus and its Hours are hidden in stuffy books and forbidden libraries. Many truths live on in the tales of the marketmongers, the songs of the sailors and the hearts of artists. If one is perceptive enough to find them…”

  • An entirely new gameplay, more focused on exploration, management and collecting stories, in accordance with the Vagabond and the Twins. Think of it as an anti-Exile. Mariner is as different from the base game and Exile as Exile is from the base game.
  • A more plot-driven experience, which will eventually include seven seas and multiple paths towards ascension.
  • Hundreds of new elements and aspects, with 300+ new visual pieces
  • Vaults are now dungeon-like areas you dock to, with layers to explore and element to interact with

“She spoke too of things all captains know. That peculiar chill that can rise from the ocean before dawn, the vibrant rhythm of the thunder strikes, and how the silver light of the moon both reveals and transforms…”

  • No Cult founding, no settling. You sail between cities with your crew and visit vaults alongside your following.
  • A reworked reputation system: being wanted by the authorities in some port doesn’t mean you can’t do business somewhere else. Tread carefully and balance when to push your luck within a city and when to turn tail and try your luck elsewhere

Mariner comes with new features to make it a standalone experience:

  • New custom achievements
  • A new look and feel with a unique theme (still working on it), custom main menu visuals, and intro quotes while playing this legacy
  • A checkpoint system to save your progress when you reach major milestones, as an entire first playthrough of Mariner is estimated to go over several dozens of hours, and no one likes losing that amount of progress when they make a mistake. But to not deface the experience, there are only checkpoints at the end of each major story segment.
  • A full logbook in the form of a Codex, to keep all the important things in mind and track your progress

Requires Codex, GHIRBI, and The Roost Machine to be subscribed to and enabled BEFORE you enable Mariner in subsequent start of the game to work properly. GHIRBI is mandatory to enable DLL mods like The Roost Machine. If you forget to do any of that, the effects range from broken behaviour everywhere to straight up crash on start. Make sure to check this first, before posting any bug/crash report!

Two years in the making. The current release only covers the North Sea. Each next major release will add a new sea.

Each release is expensive, we provide this for free and pay the artists from our own pockets. If you can (and only if you can) and wish to support us, you can offer us a coffee here.[ko-fi.com]

We might also post free articles there for people interested in "behind the scenes" and more frequent updates about our progress.

Developers:

  • DMwithoutPCs#0270 (Visscher, Jacob)

  • dyesha#8043 (Insta: @dyesha.art) (the painting of the Half-Heart, ending cards)
  • EviLLs_Resurgence (places, tools and more)
