About

Many of Ideology’s ancient junk values seem copy and pasted with little thought. And it has always driven me crazy, this mod fixes that. Ludeon please fix 🙂

In the base game, you can find ancient junk with 2,000+ HP, what do you get when you destroy it? 2 steel slag. Destroy that 400 HP pipeline? 6 slag. This mod fixes that, by making steel slag yield far more consistent and, is an overall buff. Non-deconstructable Ancient Junk will always drop steel slag with this mod.

It also tweaks the cover effectiveness for nearly every junk to make the cover% match the sprite. A toilet is worse cover than an ATM, in base game they’re identical. A tiny box, smaller than your pawn’s head is the same cover as ancient mech remains in the base game. Now the values make sense!

Changes:
  • Tweaked Cover Effectiveness for nearly every piece of junk to make more sense. If it looks like bad cover, it’s bad cover.
  • Non-deconstructable ancient junk will always drop bare minimum 1 steel slag after being destroyed.
  • Rebalanced the amounts of steel slag dropped upon destruction. An overall buff.
  • Non-metallic and small junk can now be deconstructed. They provide no resources.
  • Ancient Junk can now spawn partially damaged like Ancient Highway buildings and Ruins do!

Includes support for Biotech.

Compatibility

Salvaging, Ancient Junk Loot , Dismantle Ancient Junk, Worthless Junk and any other mods which effect what Ancient Junk drops, or how they’re removed may not work as intended with this mod.

I’ll look into them soon™

Help

Safe to be installed/removed mid-save.
Requires the Ideology DLC.
Includes support for the Biotech DLC.

Q: Why does ancient junk with 30% cover drop steel slag with 50% cover upon being destroyed?
A: 🗿

Q: Does this change HP values?
A: No, changing the HP values causes some minor visual bugs in existing saves that I’d like to avoid. The values aren’t that bad if you use a breach axe, or your ghouls between raids.

Feel free to alter, adapt, adopt or build upon this mod/concept. No credit required.
