Ah yes, the famous large lads are out, the famed SD9043MAC!!
These were the largest out of the SD series produced by EMD, totalling 6,000hp being made to compete with GE’s AC6000CW which had the same amount of horsepower. These locomotives came into existance in 1995, the same time the SD80MAC’s were being put into service, featuring a new 16 cylinder engine. A grand total of 400 of these "Big Mac’s" were built for Union Pacific and Canadian Pacific respectively, which are included in this pack. Unfortunately, because of the locomotive high horsepower, it lead to there demises resulting in both companies disposing there fleet.
Today, most SD90’s have either been rebuilt into SD70ACU’s or scrapped, with very few original SD90MAC’s still surviving. And before you ask, yes, i do have the SD70ACU planned, but it wont be soon. Nonetheless, enjoy these 2 large Mac’s on the road!!
