Description:

The locomotive of the TL 659.0 series was a Czechoslovak experimental locomotive powered by an internal combustion turbine. It was produced in 1958 in the Škoda plants in Pilsen in the number of two specimens, the factory designation was Škoda 1tlo. [1] Its turbine was powered by lubrication or heating oil. The second, smaller turbine, then rushed a sculpture compressor womaning air into the combustion chamber. In addition, the locomotive was equipped with an auxiliary engine Tatra 111A for shift and especially the start of a smaller turbine to work speed.

The locomotives did not work too much. Although they were more economical than steam locomotives burning Mazut, they were unreliable and very noisy. In addition, they had relatively small tanks due to their consumption (almost 1000 kg of fuel/hrs), so the machine deployed to operate with a looked tank. Like elsewhere in the world, their further development has been abandoned.

The TL 659.001 was owned by the damage in trial operation since February 1959, but in September of the same year it was damaged by fire (burnt down at the stop Šťáhlavy) and subsequently canceled. The second locomotive TL 659.002 has been in operation since 1960, the Czechoslovak State Railways took over it two years later and served them in freight transport. Was canceled in 1966 and then was handed over to the University of Transport in Žilina
