USRA Light Mikado
A Christmas Eve release, with another new generic steam locomotive. The versatile Mikado!!
The USRA Light Mikados were among the first USRA locomotives built, between 1918 to 1929 with 698 models built with copies of the design being built under different classes. They were well-liked due to there successful design and reliability, which helped them last long into the end of the steam era. The class would be nicknamed "McAdoo MIkado" after William Gibbs McAdoo, who was the head of the USRA.
Today, nine examples are preserved of both original and copied designs, which are all on static display.
