Prague – Skoda 706RTO MTZ 1959
Prague, Czech Republic (Dopravní podnik hlavního města Prahy – DPP – Prague Transport Company). Closely based on a real historical bus.
The letter S (samoobslužný – self-service) at the front of the vehicle meant that there was no conductor on the bus. Passengers were required to board through the front door and pay the fare by dropping coins into the driver’s cash box.
This designation was used from 1960, when this self-service operation started being gradually implemented on individual routes, until 1974, when a single universal fare and pre-purchased tickets were introduced.
