UPGRADES:
Adding a Shield is recommended to upgrade as soon as you get Neodymium.
You do not need any extra CPU for that, but will drop at 92%, which is intended.
Removing the Constructor or RCS will get you back at 100% if that is a problem to you.
Shield can be produced without the need of a BA or CV constructor by using this factory Blueprint and retrieving the blocks.
To install remove the carbon blocks marked with S above the cockpit area to make space for that.
For further upgrades you will need more CPU and space.
This can be done by removing the jump drive.
You will usually not need it after spawning your starter CV.
Improved CPU extenders.
should be installed in the free space, or replace the constructor,
generators
remove the small generators and replace them with advanced ones,
"flat" in the compartement facing towards the back
thrusters are upgradable in all directions.
make sure to assign all new thrusters to the thrusters signal,
or the Automatic Power Save will not work for them.
laser drills
mechhanical drills can be replaced. drill spread is too small to be optimal for lasers, but does absolutely work if you decide you want to keep the hydra a bit longer.
when upgrading thrust + generators, mabye even to laser drills, you can fill the rest of free space with cargo extensions to get a bit more capactiy.

The Hydra has a Auto Power Save Mode with Pilot Detection
thrusters will turn off automatically, depending on the settings (assign all new Thrusters to the Thrusters signal)
Auto Power Save (P menu):
will automatically turn off thrust when you leave the cockpit seat.
space mode (P menu) should be on all the time when in space.
can be useful for landing on uneven terrain where landing gears don’t work properly.
turn it off when you want to hover in atmosphere, and it will only automatically turn off thrust when landing gear is extended.
else it will power off your thrusters in atmosphere and you will fall.
Flight Mode (P menu):
will always override Auto Power Save and will turn on thrusters.
while Auto Power Save is off you can use this mode essentially as on and off switch.
If you notice problems exiting the cockpit, try in First Person.
Sadly seat ejection mechanics in Empyrion are not the best.
